Thanksgiving is the perfect time to remember that religions don’t have a monopoly on gratitude. We atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, and freethinkers of other varieties can also experience the benefits of gratitude in our lives!

Knowing this, the Charleston SHCC will be at November’s Charleston ArtWalk on Thursday, November 21, with handmade bracelet charms for sale that represent different things people might be thankful for. “What on earth are you thankful for?” is the slogan. Answers might be “shelter,” “family,” “friends,” “love,” “a job,” “food,” “pets,” “forgiveness,” “learning,” “adventure,” or something else…we ask you to take a moment and answer: what on earth are you thankful for?

  1. I’m thankful for truth.

    1. Me too! Thanks for commenting.

  2. I’m of the opinion that if you wait all year to say your thankful it doesn’t really mean much. Sure, sure, I get it. A special moment to acknowledge those things we are thankful for. I much rather appreciate acknowledging them in real time.

    1. Very true! Thanks for commenting. I’ve always thought that holidays like Thanksgiving aren’t supposed to imply that those are the only times of the year we are thankful, generous (Christmas), or loving (Valentine’s Day), but that they are times to celebrate those virtues. At least I hope they aren’t the only times of the year we are thankful, generous, and loving!
