We had a wonderful celebration of freethinking on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Coonskin Park in Charleston, WV. The event was jointly hosted by us, the Charleston Secular Humanist Community Center (Charleston SHCC), and the Morgantown Atheists. In continuation of the Morgantown Atheists’ annual tradition, the event was called A.S.H. Bash III. “A.S.H.” stands for “Atheists, Skeptics, and Humanists.”
We enjoyed a big potluck-style lunch, picnic games, an inspiring speech from Charleston Gazette Editor-in-chief Jim Haught on our society’s steady growth towards non-religion, an improv performance, a musical performance, and a group discussion about issues facing the secular community in our region.
Afterwards, several of us headed over to Plaza Maya (Mexican restaurant) in Kanawha City for the “A.S.H. Bash After Hours” hangout, which was officially hosted by the Kanawha Valley Atheists and Agnostics.
